Is it too late to give my brother a wedding present if he's been married for almost a year and a half? If you're new around these parts or if you've forgotten, I'm not shy about my feelings toward the actual quilting of a quilt (aka the bane of my existence). I've said it before and I'll say it again. I love everything involved in making a quilt except the quilting part. So here's to the happy couple...who got married January 5... of 2008.

that's gorgeous - and nope - it's never too late, I have a stack left to finish and give!
Send the quilt out, I've never done it, but tons of ladies in my quilt guild do. Or rent a longarm...it will make you love quilting! You can do a king size in a day.

Oh it's pretty! Love it!! And the more I've quilted the more I enjoy it... I've found that it does get easier. Though I like it more now that I stipple than I did when I did straight lines.
Its beautiful, love the colors, and no its never too late. I hate the quilting part - just hate it! But I love that quilt and I am sure they will too!

I am still working on a quilt (not nearly as nice as yours) for a couple married over two and a half years. They may get it for their 5th anniversary.

I concur about the longarm comment. My mom has one and I've quilted on it and it's a completely different experience. In a good way.

That quilt is gorgeous. I am onto the quilting of my first larger quilt and I am hating it, so I feel your pain. By the way it was my husband's xmas present, still not done!

Thanks for stopping by my little blog! The only class I've taken at Quiltology is the machine quilting one, and I recommend it. I picked up a ton of tips that have really made it easier to quilt and I could use all the help I can get. I'm waiting for the Improvisational quilting class in May since I've never been brave enough to try that myself. Should be fun!

I too hate the quilting part of quilting...and I have a quilt on my table for my brother...who got married in 2006!!
I have to agree with Alissa - straight lines were stressing me out! Now I'm stippling too and whilst a little wonky - it's much more enjoyable.
The quilt is looking lovely. It's never really too late, though now I am feeling guilty about the wedding quilt for a friend that is 3 years late.

I normally don't like strip quilts but that is really gorgeous.
This quilt is GORGEOUS! The combination of fabrics is just perfect. I say you should hold onto this quilt until January and make it an anniversary gift!

That is a beautiful quilt. I am sure they don't mind a bit htat it is late. I dislike the quilting process too. I love choosing the colrs and design and sewing them all together, but sure wish I could afford to pay someone to quilt them!
What about giving to the couple when their eldest is starting school early next year? In the making but stuck because I don't have that much to buy the batting.
I'll bet they didn't turn it away, did they? It's a beautiful quilt and I can't see anyone telling you it's too late! ;o)

Lovely lovely quilt - Quilting is a process and when I first quilted, I was not keen about quilting my quilts. Then my husband bought me a babylock quilting machine ( much less expensive than a long arm though I am told that one can find places to rent a long arm). My machine is slightly bigger than the average domestic machine. It has a bigger space and a little extended table that helps making quilting easier. It has a walking foot and a darning foot ( used for meandering) and goes 1100 stitches per minute. It is lots of fun to use and I have just finished quilting a king sized quilt on it. There are some great books out there, about the quilting part of making a quilt and DVD tutorials are often with them. Two people that have been suggested to me are Patsy Thompson designs and Karen McTavish who wrote a book called The Art of McTavishing.
