My husband thinks otherwise and therefore refuses to listen until he's finished his last bite of pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving Day. I can respect this decision and totally approve of those of you who want to save the tunes until after Thanksgiving. In the meantime, however, I listen to as much as I can in my office and in my car.
Since temperatures were in the high 60s this weekend and for the last couple of days in Chicago, I held off listening, but now I can't wait for one more second!!! I think I'll start with perhaps one of the best Christmas albums ever made, Mariah Carey's Merry Christmas, followed by some Andy Williams. If you have a suggestion of a much-loved album I need to add to my collection, please don't hesitate.
One that i love that is not an old classic, is Mindy Smith's "My Holiday." If you are not a fan of Mindy Smith, you probably wouldn't like the album.
ReplyDeleteI grew up on Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith, so I of course, have to listen to their christmas albums each year! :)
I definitely don't despise you for it, but I'm avoiding your office and car until after Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteAll I want for Christmaaaaaassssssssssssssssssssssss iiiiiiiissssssss yoooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh baby - you'd better believe I've got these tunes cranking along with you! WOooooooOOOOOWheeee!
Mariah Carey is THE christmas album if you ask me...and Christmas music is fair game after Halloween (there is no Thanksgiving music after all!!)
ReplyDeleteAnd in terms of the election...it is a JOYFUL DAY!!
I like Jack Johnson's "Rudolph" and Fiona Apple's "Frosty the Snowman." Both make me grin!
ReplyDeleteI love listening to Christmas music all year long if it makes you feel better. Two of my favorites: Etta James Christmas and Sufjan Steven's Christams . . . highly, highly recommend.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course, it wouldn't be Christmas without a little blasting of Manheim Steamroller just for fun : )
Joy to the World baby.
ReplyDeletePerhaps?! It IS the best Christmas album ever made. Let's not kid ourselves.
ReplyDeleteOMG! Mariah's Christmas CD is my ALL TIME FAV!!! I love it!!!! Good choices.
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for Christmas music too, start listening to it early, and well, the decorations, they are already slowly creeping out of their boxes!
Julie
It is way too warm here today to even believe that Christmas is just around the corner but like you I totally go for the music right up until the 27th (we celebrate Boxing Day too) and then it is off for another year:)
ReplyDeleteYou presumably didn't despise me for not being in the Halloween spirit so who am I to judge!
ReplyDeletehow funny! I think you may be right, we must have been separated at birth! I LOVE CHRISTMAS MUSIC!
ReplyDeleteI was inspired by you and started my Christmas playlist today! Gotta love the Barenaked Ladies and Sarah Maclachlan (sp?)singing We 3 Kings. If you haven't heard it I'll send you a copy.

I am with you! I start listening to Christmas music from about now until Christmas as well! I have it playing in my office all season.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Christmas music! One of my favorites is Harry Connick, Jr. Can't wait to start listening!
ReplyDeleteI looove Christmas music (ah, the memories of Johnny Mathis, Burl Ives and the Ray Conniff singers), but I'm with TK - gimme my pie, and only after that can you put on the Christmas CD. :)
ReplyDeleteI was going to suggest Mariah Carey but you already have her of course...I recommend "I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas" for a good laugh! Its my favorite! :)
ReplyDeleteI listen to Christmas music all year 'round. I can't help it. I just love Christmas music. There is a music station here that starts playing Christmas music 24 hours a day on November 1!
ReplyDeleteI bought Mariah Carey's album this weekend, upon your recommendation.
